Botanical Name: Capsicum spp
Cayenne pepper is used to give a pungent flavour to many different dishes, eg; pickles, chutneys, curries, stews and stir-fries.
Taken internally for the cold stage of fevers, to improve circulation to hands, feet and the central organs. It relieves wind, colic and stimulates digestive juices aiding digestion.
Externally, cayenne pepper can be applied to the skin to bring blood to the area making it useful for arthritis, rheumatic conditions, neuralgia, lumbago and spasms.
